Transparent Back Grounds

Hi Kathy,
I'm going to post to get the hang of this. There are two things in PScs (I have 3) that I don't know how to do - or not well. One is making a transparent background. Let's say I have a photo of a machine from my vendor and they don't have it transparent. I need to get ride of the white background and make the image a nice clean transparent. I'm struggling with this.

Also, when I am editing photos (not so much my day job) I want to be able to airbrush. I can do this on line in fun programs like Picnik.com, but I would really like to understand this in ps-cs3. SO if you are teaching and want ideas...this is what I'm stumbling over.

I cannot say enough about the lessons learned on this last Webex. I really learned a lot, and I am no spring chicken! I want to personally thank this crew's host and her patience with all of the questions that we sent her during the live session. Citrix is not an easy program, and you made it very user friendly and understandable.

I encourage all of you that need tips and tricks of Adobe based products (and some others when we are all on a fundraising event) to touch base with each one of us, and to also cross check notes. Everyone that participated has a different expectation and knowledge base, and I am so thankful for the support matrix.

Hotel Room Cards & Magnets....

Don't forget to always keep a little magnet with you if you are travelling and staying in a hotel that uses those cards to enter your room.

Not only is your basic info on these cards, also your credit card number and other ID stuff. When you swipe the card with the magnet it erases the info off the card. Do that right before you leave!

Gotta keep these hotel staffers honest, by golly :)

Some Interesting Stuff for IC's

Hi all...having a lovely spring are we? YES, I say yes to that!

As you dig holes for plants and trees and such, I'd like to take an opportunity to disclose some very useful information regarding the DOL. Those of us that work additional gigs know the phraseology, and what it entails.

The IRS has employeed over 2,000 new agents to conduct additional audits this upcoming fiscal year. So, if you are one of the many that is signed on as any IC for say WorkForce, Cloud10, WAH Solutions, Alpine, VIP, etc. keep your recordes spotless.

I normally would not place this information here, however, the work boards are full and a-buzz over this very recent 'survey' that the DOL is conducting. Although it is RANDOM function of some down the line proof of status, I urge all of you that have worked so hard with me, beside me, and continue your efforts to maintain a flexible schedule and profit earning capability to stay on top of your 'at hand' quarterly earnings.

For the next 12-16 months there will be nothing short of repetitive requests for your IC status. My advice is to be cooperative, as your taxable income is out there for anyone to gain access to as it is. Your job is to make it easier to locate, and above all, keep your status intact for future freedom of earnings.

We all knew this would happen, and so today, although it is a bit of an inconvenience, it is the way it goes. If you have ANY questions, please contact me for any clarification or my experience on the IC status legislature.

To begin shopping for the spring flowers. As our gardening elders always reminded us, NOTHING is a sure thing until after Memorial Day. But, there are still great deals in our community on flowers, bushes, trees, rocks, pavers and stone. Check out all the stuff that is out...makes you want to grab it up!

While we all wait for the right time to start digging in the earth, I will remind everyone that is attending the LiveWork Webex this weekend; We had a great agent turnout for last week's 2 day marathon, and unfortunately, as does happen, its not for everyone. DON'T WORRY....I don't take it personally, and you shouldn't beat yourself up too bad over it. The stress is high and maybe this weekend's projects will be more suitable for you. Never give up :) We'll fit you into a comfortable position for that ultimate opportunity to make very good money!

Also, remember, I STILL HAVE THE LIST that is full of companies ramping up for the Spring Break workload, and summer long hiatus. Contact us by email to obtain it. Its definitely worth the couple of bucks to have in your files.

Hey hey hey everybody :)

Got some very exciting FREE web meetings and tutorials lined up for March and April.

I've been hearing much a-buzz about the lack of response that many that attend community classes are getting. Seems that they have alot of questions and always save them for these classes. Which, of course you know I LOVE to answer.

So, here we go: Next Thursday the 11th, I'll send you the sign in access for the WebEx. We'll be doing the newest do's and don'ts on CS4, and how to ease into CS4 from CS3. Plus what the new features are and aren't. There are a ton of new plug-ins and add-ons that are a must have!

Although I can somewhat empathize with the local educators on this one, having a large class and not having the ability to answer everyone's questions, I see alot of the people that need the small details answered. They mean alot when you're on your own in these programs. So, next week it is....unless otherwise posted. Send me emails with ANY PRIOR TOPICS you'd like discussed. We'll attend to those first, ok?

Wanted to post and remind anyone stopping by that the meeting to revisit the very serious issue of stopping Asian Carp, and closing the locks in dispute will be held

with Mike Cox at the GLMA (see info above).

We will try to get the word out to as many concerned fisherman and citizens that care about this very real threat to the waters. Carp has already been detected and DNA has been collected.

Remember, if you've been following this story......the rivers are the first damaged waterways affected by this ultimately preventable situation. Power in numbers,

Hope everyone is enjoying the new year! I wanted to share an odd story about shoes in Europe. Those that know me understand my affinity for shoes and deals, so this was a funny story.

In Geneva, there was a rash of robberies of expensive, LEFT shoes on display in stores. Oddly similar, in Denmark there was a rash of the same shoes, except that Denmark displays the RIGHT shoe. You know where this is going?

The thieves are taking the short train ride and matching them up for sale. Where are they selling them? Who knows! But you can be these won't be knock offs on the street. All I could think of was, one, how clever, for thieves, and two, they must have alot of time on their hands to come up with this!!

Hi folks. An update on the drive from Connecticut (ugh) to Nashville and back to Michigan.

The weather has been of much suckage, I'm sure you can imagine. The people have been a gas.

The CDs have been flying out the door. The T-shirt hookup is most excellent. I'm keeping my day job, but I gotta tell ya.....we are being SEEN and truckin' along.

Don't get too close or you'll get burnt by the molten LAVA. It's that good! Happy New Year to all. STEW.

Recently, we'd like to thank the newest visitors to our facility that have kept us running non-stop. We've always believed that the key to success is consistent knowledge and service, and we are proud to welcome those who have taken the time to seek us out after a prior, frustrating attempt somewhere else.

We like to keep in mind that no matter the size of the situation, need or demand, we are a client service based business and that entails many plates spinning. We are very proud of our work and happy to share our client service with you! As an avid photographer, I would like to mention the closing of Traverse City State Hospital 20 years ago this month. The photographer and author of 'Angels in the Architecture' by Heidi Johnson, who died last summer, is worth noting as well.

Please try to visit Interlochen Public Radio on the web and look up Points North on their Podcast from tonight. I just finished listening to some really touching stories, and I also have Heidi's book. What a powerful landmark and a moving story. Heidi's pictures are exquisite.

Nuisance Adware - Please Beware

If you have a yahoo account, do yourself a big favor....first, when you log in, go directly to the CLASSIC EDITION...do not pass go to your mail, do not stay on the newest, colorful edition. Reason? Some of the advertisements have a filthy little cookie buried in there, and will take you several registry checks and multiple cache clears to get it off your system.

Just don't use the the new edition of Yahoo, unless you want this added headache. Just took me 15 minutes to finally clear it off. Who's gonna pay me for that? No one!

The course I've assembled is a great starter package, and you can always purchase the enhanced packages as you see fit for your business. It will make a little more sense when we get into it. That will be my treat for all that you wonderful people offer us to accomplish...and an ode to our 14th year in Traverse City.

Yes, the searches will begin getting more in queue when the kids get back to school. ALOT more queries, actually. Do yourself a favor and check out the limitations because they have changed for how many you can return, and the length of time it takes is based on that.

If you are fast, they may extend your number of query returns. But, make no mistake; the students will be using the search features within the next few weeks. Have fun and make lots of money!!

Off topic, if your Morgan Chase card is getting cancelled, remember, it will say it was closed by 'consumer's request' on your credit report. Many of us are getting a little tired of being shut down because these acquisitions are cutting our lines, and credit cards that are paid on time as well.

No worries. For every person that gets dumped by Chase, JP Morgan, just make sure you have at least one with a good balance on it. Things are getting worse before they get better.

How to gain access to tonight's meeting

It's your humble hostess with the mostess...and here is how easy it is to gain access to the new meeting we are all signed up for:

When you launch your Acrobat 8 version, you'll see a little guy at the top with his arm out...click on the down arrow and follow the free trial directions. After you finish with the minor details (this is not a bad thing to have on your desktop for future meetings, too). But for this meeting to get you familiar with the program and how to get in and all that for the tonight's lesson, it should be pretty straight forward.

Please email me with questions if you get stuck. Trillian is great to have also if you use aim, yahoo, aol, etc. messengers. I have everyone's screen names. If your's has changed, kindly email me with the new one.

In this lesson, we will be addressing all the wonderfuls questions and 'how to's' from the Photoshop lesson a few months ago. There are many ways to accomplish the speed bumps you guys seem to be experiencing, so hopefully this will be worth your time and effort.
